👋 Hello everyone!
Today I just feel like sharing bits of things, without worrying about length or design or composition. So that’s what I’m gonna do!
What have you been up to lately? I’ve been…
🧋 Eating + Drinking
Strawberry milk—or strawberry latte, as I’ve seen it called in the Korean cafe videos I love to watch.
Tuna onigiri, yeolmu kimchi (which I have searched high and low for since I first had it in L.A., and finally found at H-Mart), seaweed, and cucumber-tomato salad.
Grilled brie sandwich with lettuce, tomato, and Dijon, plus apple slices. (Found some brie in the pantry clean-out!)
Banana and orange with lime juice and chile salt, plus green tea with cucumber and lemon. We really like this chile salt from Trader Joe’s.
Dirty boba and matcha latte from Feng Cha, aka the BEST BOBA PLACE EVERRRRRR
🥫 Organizing
A pantry clean-out! I pulled EVERYTHING out of the fridge, freezer, and pantry, tossed out old/gross things, catalogued everything, and put it all back in. Result: cooking lots of fun things, buying fewer groceries, actually being able to see what’s in the freezer, and recognizing my fear of running out of vegan provolone (why did I have 3 unopened packages?!).
📚 Reading
The Expanse Series by James S. A. Corey. My friend Jay has shared how much he enjoyed the TV show on Amazon Prime, and the first book in the series finally became available at the library, so I decided to try to read it. I LOVE IT. I don’t read a ton of sci-fi, but people: I LOVE IT. The writing is so dang good, the dialogue has me laughing out loud, the characters are so perfectly flawed. I finished the first book, then tried watching the TV series… I got through maybe 3 episodes and had to stop because I was too judge-y about the characters not… gelling? Sparking? … together like they did in the books.
So I paused the TV show and started book 2, and I love it EVEN MORE. I think this will help me like the TV series better when I do start it again, as I’m more familiar with some of the characters they throw in so early in the show. One in particular is who I want to be when I grow up (if it’s possible to become a sly, brilliant, irreverent old Indian woman in a sari). So! Read the books. They’re so good.
📺 Watching
The Rise of Bangtan on YouTube. There is no shortage of BTS content out there, and I think I could watch something every single day and not run out of new content for years. Anyway, I’ve somehow neglected to watch this fan-made documentary series on YouTube thus far, and it is SO good! It’s such a great summary of how the group got started, the criticism they’ve always faced, the relationships they’ve fostered, the good that they’ve created. I’ve seen much of this footage in other contexts, but they’ve pulled it all together in a compelling way. I still haven’t finished it (I’m notoriously slow at watching things), so I’ll be chipping away at the series for a while.
(By the way, my beloved BTS are headed to the White House to talk with President Biden about Asian inclusion and representation. NBD.) ðŸ˜ðŸ’œ
😂 Laughing
That’s it! Thank you for reading—hit reply and tell me what you’re up to.
